SUMMARY:District Cooling for Designers and Owners (MENA)
DESCRIPTION:This course presents practical guidance contained in two NEW ASHRAE publications: Design Guide for District Cooling\, Second Edition and Owner’s Guide for Buildings Served by District Cooling. District cooling systems\, when designed and operated properly\, can be an energy-efficient alternative to conventional in building chilled water plant adding to an owner’s sustainability portfolio and allowing the building owner to focus on their own business\, rather than operating and maintaining a chilled water plant. District cooling systems can provide buildings in a particular area with chilled water for comfort and process cooling with the benefits to the building owner of greatly reduced or eliminated maintenance cost\, much lower space requirements\, and no concerns as to plant capacity or load growth. This 6-hour course covers what designers and owners need to know about district cooling to enable it to provide energy efficiencies and reliable operation. Topics covered include Planning\, Central Plant Design\, Distribution Systems\, End User Interfaces\, Thermal Energy Storage\, and Operation and Maintenance from both the designer and owner perspectives. The instructors will take attendees through the guidance provided in these new tools made available from ASHRAE to advance the successful applications and use of district cooling technology. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nRecognize different types of central plant systems and understand their uses and applications\nRecognize different types of pumping arrangements and understand their uses and applications\nHave a basic understanding of the issues regarding plant economic analysis\nUnderstand benefits of central plant vs. stand-alone systems\n\nCourse Fees: \nNon-member: $75 USD\nMember: $50 USD \nFor registration: \nhttps://bit.ly/2JIxAdZ

SUMMARY:Designing for IAQ: Complying with Requirements of Standard 62.1 (MENA)
DESCRIPTION:This course focuses on the basic requirements of ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2016\, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality. The newest version of the standard includes a major change to the scope of the standard by which residential occupancies are moved from ASHRAE Standard 62.1 to 62.2. This course provides an overview of the requirements of the new standard with emphasis on changes from the previous version and practical application of the standard to modern VAV systems. New requirements to the indoor air quality procedure for determining minimum ventilation rates are discussed. In the 2016 version\, changes were made in determining air class for laboratory exhaust systems and the use of sensors for demand control ventilation\, and these changes are discussed as well. The course presents sample calculations for code review and for physical operation.

SUMMARY:ASHRAE Course: The Future of Refrigerants: Challenges and Opportunities (MENA)
DESCRIPTION:This training provides a background review of international treaties and initiatives that support the transition from hydroclorofluorocarbon (HCFC) and hydrofluorocabon (HFC) refrigerants towards non-ozone depleting (ODP)\, low global warming potential (GWP) substances. A review of proposed refrigerants and how they can be used in different HVAC&R applications based on theoretical and empirical analyses are discussed. Challenges and opportunities associated with the different types of refrigerants: hydrofluorolefins\, and natural refrigerants are presented. Refrigerant options now and in the future that suites the region\, and related Standards and Codes of Systems and Substances are also covered. Finally\, the workshop wraps up with a discussion on the system’s perspective and how to best understand the opportunities for energy efficiency improvements along with hands-on experience with free software such as the ORNL Life Cycle Climate Performance web application and the ORNL Heat Pump Design Model. \nCourse Instructor\nOmar Abdelaziz\, Ph.D. \nCost:\n$405 for non-member\n$311 for ASHRAE Member\n$270 for ASHRAE Falcon Member. For information\, contact Ayah Said at globaltrainingcenter@ashrae.org \n———————————————— \n*Special Offer: Enroll for both HVAC Design Essentials (MENA) and The Future of Refrigerants: Challenges and Opportunities (MENA) courses (6-9 May 2018) and SAVE! \nCost:\n$1050 for non-member\n$860 for ASHRAE Member\n$800 for ASHRAE Falcon Member \n \nCost:\n$405 for non-member\n$311 for ASHRAE Member\n$270 for ASHRAE Falcon Member
